Why Therapy?
"If we wait, won't it fix itself, eventually?"

Possibly ... yes. But it might also fix itself 'wrong'.
Imagine breaking your arm and not doing anything about it. It'll probably mend, eventually, but it would mend crooked and you'd have an arm that wouldn't work as well as it could. Now imagine getting your broken arm seen to by a professional, someone who will help mend it properly so that you can use it as it should be used. Which would you rather?

Mental health therapy is about our emotions - our feelings. Just as our thoughts are part of our everyday lives, so are our feelings. Sometimes we have smaller feelings that flare up and then subside and sometimes we have much bigger feelings that seem to always be with us, getting in the way of our everyday lives, making us feel heavier or tenser than we’d like, affecting our moods and our ability to make friends, communicate, be sociable and take part in those activities that would normally interest us.
It is when we can no longer live our lives freely because our emotions, and subsequent behaviours, consistently get in the way of things, that therapy can be a powerful tool to help us understand those big feelings and the, sometimes complex, layers beneath, that have helped to create them.
Our thoughts & feelings are interwoven and cannot be experienced independently.
