What to Expect
From Your First Visit
Cute handmade toys of gloves isolated on

So, you have almost decided to take that big step towards getting support for you and your family - what should you expect from your first visit?

First and foremost - there is nothing to worry about!  We are not here to judge you, your child or the situations life has thrown at you.

At our first meeting, your therapist will take note of a few personal details (telephone, child's age, allergies, past therapies, other professionals you may have already worked with etc).  You will then be invited to talk about your child, from what you think is troubling him/her to the difficulties you are witnessing and the reasons for which you are seeking support.  You will be asked to complete a quick and simple questionnaire as a form of assessment tool, aimed at helping identify where the main issues may be.  Lastly, you will be asked to sign a consent form.  It is often easier if your child does NOT attend this first meeting.

Your therapist will also tell you a little more about the services we provide and the type of therapy most indicated to your needs and give you lots of time to ask any questions you may have.  If you decide to proceed, we will lay out a schedule of sessions, the first of which will be an introductory session in which your therapist will meet your child and make sure they too are comfortable with everything.  Our main priority is your child and their well-being.
